Hello World!

Well… the time has finally come for me to piece together my chaotic life story.

I originally planned to start this blog back in 2020—like most moms trying to figure out what to do during a time of uncertainty. You know, something productive. Something meaningful. Something that made it look like I had my life at least partially together.

I had a whole website ready to go. A few posts in the works. Absolute masterpieces of blog titles like:
“I Had an Ugly Baby, and I Know It.”

I can already picture the mob of angry moms—pitchforks, torches, Facebook comments typed in ALL CAPS—ready to take me down. Don’t worry… you’ll still get your chance when that one goes live.

But then… life did what life does best. It lifed. HARD. And this little side quest—this mom blog about real life and motherhood—got put on a very long, very unplanned pause.

Honestly though? I’m okay with that.

Because it gave me more to write about. More to learn. More chaos to try to “manage”—or at least learn how to stand in the middle of a Target parking lot without completely unraveling.

It’s wild how life can change so drastically… and somehow stay exactly the same.

My Life Lately (A Real Mom Story)

In the last six years:

  • We moved from Oregon to Georgia (yes, that alone deserves its own series)
  • I got my bachelor’s degree in psychology at the ripe old age of 44
  • Finally got a diagnosis—or two—for my chronic pain (only took 20+ years and a rotating cast of doctors)
  • Took a trip to Mexico and casually left 110 pounds behind at the border
  • Became a “Richard” (don’t worry… we’ll unpack that later)
  • Got diagnosed with breast cancer and am currently in treatment
  • Started going to a Baptist church… because apparently that’s part of the Georgia starter pack (don’t worry—it’s not what you think)
  • And somehow became a deacon at that same church after years away due to church trauma (life really said plot twist)

So yeah… things have been a little busy.

This Is Not Your Typical Mom Blog

By now, you’ve probably realized this is not a blog about perfectly frosted cupcakes made by a mom in a spotless kitchen wearing a linen apron.

No ma’am.

This is a real mom blog about the raw, nitty-gritty parts of motherhood—chronic illness, cancer, faith, chaos, and everything in between. The messy middle. The unfiltered moments. The humor you find when things probably shouldn’t be funny—but somehow are anyway.

Mom Desserts… Read It Backwards

Mom Desserts.

Go ahead. Read it backwards.

Yeah… you get it now.

Whether we admit it or not—whether we’re organized, color-coded, and thriving… or just proud we kept everyone alive today—

We are all stressed moms.

And this blog? It’s for us.

For the Stressed Moms Doing Their Best

I’m here to remind you:

It’s okay to be stressed.
It’s okay to not have it all together.
It’s okay to laugh at the chaos—even when it makes zero sense.

If you’re navigating motherhood, chronic pain, cancer, or just trying to survive daily life without losing your mind—you’re in the right place.

If I can help you breathe a little easier—or at least make you laugh hard enough to forget what you walked into the room for—

Then this blog is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.

About Me

Howdy! I’m Holli Ann.
I’m a mom who thought she was almost done raising kids… and then life said, “Surprise! Here’s twins.”
So yes—I hit the restart button on motherhood when my youngest was 15. Highly recommend if you enjoy chaos, caffeine, and questioning your life choices in the best possible way.

I am a west coast girl but live in Georgia now, where I somehow became a deacon at a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship church after spending years away from church altogether. Turns out you can walk through church trauma, come out the other side, and still find a version of faith that feels honest, safe, and a little less… performative.

I live with chronic pain, which means my body and I are in a long-term, mildly hostile relationship. On top of that, I’m currently navigating a cancer journey—because apparently my life likes to keep things interesting. Around here, we cope with dark humor, real talk, and the understanding that some days are for fighting and some days are for just getting through.

I’m the kind of person who is aggressively kind—like, you might be a little too scared there is an underlining reason. But trust me there’s not.

I talk to animals like they’re people (because honestly, some of them have better personalities), and I’m currently working on befriending a family of crows that have decided to visit our house. They’re not fully convinced yet, but they seem to love the snacks, so I guess we’re building something.

When I’m not doing all of that, you’ll find me crafting, relaxing outside, (except in summer) or just existing as myself—which took a long time to feel like something I was allowed to do.

This space is where I share the messy, funny, hard, and unexpectedly beautiful parts of life—without pretending any of it is easy or perfectly put together.

If you’re here for honesty, a little sarcasm, and the occasional emotional gut-punch wrapped in humor… you’re in the right place.
